Huge variations in price to fill up family car across the country revealed
An investigation by the Daily Mail has uncovered that there are massive variations in the cost to fill up a vehicle – all depending on what part of the UK you are currently in.

Differences in the cost of fuel have risen up to £22 in the cost to top up the tank in a family car.

The information acquired by the newspaper revealed that some independent forecourts are charging £10 less per tank – sparking fresh allegations towards the major retailers of cashing in on the current cost of living crisis faced by millions across the UK.

According to the most recent data, the average cost of a litre of petrol has fallen by more than 20p since the start of July, from a record 191.53p to 170.97p last week.

The driving factor behind this drop has been down to the wholesale price of petrol crashing in recent weeks.

RAC’s Rod Dennis said: “The fact independent forecourts, many of which will be selling less fuel than major supermarkets, are able to offer fuel at much lower, fairer prices is eye-opening and a major break from the norm

“We continue to believe that many big retailers have significant scope to cut petrol prices to more fairly reflect the wholesale price they’re paying to buy the fuel in the first place.”
