The London to Brighton EV Rally returns for its fifth year, with the RAC returning as the official recovery partner for the route – and we’re giving away a pair of tickets to take part.
Founded in 2021 as a grassroots event designed to raise awareness and encourage the uptake of electric vehicles, the EV Rally is now a leading event in the EV community calendar. It attracts around 35,000 attendees each year, and over 120 vehicles take part.
The EV Rally follows the iconic London to Brighton route run by the Veteran Car Run for the last 129 years – but begins at Westminster City School instead of Hyde Park.
Running through South London and the West Sussex countryside, it ends at Madeira Drive – just beside Brighton Palace Pier on the seafront.
While the roughly 60-mile distance is certainly no issue for most modern electric cars, it’s morphed into an efficiency challenge. The most energy-efficient vehicle in each category (from city cars to SUVs and more) is declared the winner.

Once at Madeira Drive there will be an awards ceremony and an after-party, along with a variety of activities and experiences for the public.
The event has also been merged with Charge and Drive, a test drive experience giving the public access to a variety of EVs. A lively atmosphere is promised with food, music and more along the Brighton seafront.
Partners for the event include BYD, Hankook Tyre UK, Dinnages Ford Brighton, Believ and electric motorbike firm Maeving. All will be showcasing new products at the event. Charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support will be on site, too.
The RAC is running a prize draw for both members and non-members to win a pair of tickets. All you need to do is download the MyRAC app and create an account. The prize draw will be accessible via the homepage, where the terms and conditions can also be found.
