If you’re going to be there, come and say hello; we’ll be providing breakdown services over the weekend and will also have a base right in the heart of it all in the Shopping Village.
The competition has now closed - winners will be contacted soon. Good luck!
If you’ve not been to the Silverstone Classic before and you’re wondering what it’s all about, here’s a quick roundup…
The race programme features the cream of historic racing action from Formula One, Sports Cars, GT and Touring Car grids with over 20 races and demonstrations, and over 1,000 race entries.
Friday is for qualifying with the chance to see every grid on track (09:00 – 19:00), while on Saturday and Sunday there’s a packed schedule of races each day with a very special ‘Twilight Tribute to Le Mans’ on Saturday evening as the cars race until 21:00 with headlights blazing into the setting sun.
The Classic this summer will also feature dedicated retro races for Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3, creating the festival’s first ever international single-seater showcase.
Crowd-pleasing Formula 1 showdowns featuring the great Grand Prix cars from much-loved past eras including Masters Historic Formula One and the HGPCA (Historic Grand Prix Cars Association) are a constant at the event, but never before have there been dedicated races for Formula 2 cars, while the Classic Formula 3 series returns for the first time since 2014.
Not only that, but marking fifty years since the legendary Jackie Stewart celebrated his maiden British Grand Prix win at Silverstone (before being powered on towards the first of his three world championship titles), Sir Jackie will take to the track at this year’s event to mark the anniversary, taking part in some high speed demonstration laps behind the wheel of his victorious Matra MS80-02.
There will also be a record-breaking field of pre ’66 Minis contesting the Mini Celebration Trophy presented by Adrian Flux in this, the Mini’s 60th year, and the Capris racing in the Historic Touring Car Challenge will be battling for line honours in the hope of winning the Gordon Spice Trophy in celebration of the Ford Capri’s 50th anniversary. There’s a load of other track action too; you get the gist!
Away from the track, there’s plenty of opportunity to get close to the racing machinery of yesteryear and chat to the drivers and race preparers.
There’s free access to the grandstands and big screens are also located in the race paddocks and on the Village Green so there's no need to miss any of the race action as you enjoy the other activities on offer at the Classic.
There’s a huge amount for the family to enjoy… there are interactive driving experiences, stunt demonstrations, vintage funfair rides, a packed infield full of car club classics representing over 130 different car clubs, and even a Shopping Village.
For those with enough stamina, Silverstone will come alive in the evening with the sounds of Woodstock as this year’s live music line-up on Friday and Saturday evenings celebrates the 50th anniversary of the legendary festival!
Hope to see you there!
